Lirien
Lirien — benefits of working with a considered design studio

Why Lirien

The case for working
with a smaller studio.

When a studio is small by design, you get fewer layers between your brief and the finished space — and more accountability when something isn't right.

What working with Lirien looks like

Design Expertise That Goes On Site

Our lead designer has over eleven years in Malaysian residential interiors. That experience doesn't stay in the studio — it comes to site, where it's most needed.

Documentation Written to Build From

Many design studios produce drawings that are elegant to look at but thin on construction detail. Lirien's specification sets are written for the site, not the presentation folder.

One Designer, Start to Finish

You'll work with the same person from the initial brief through to the final walk. No project managers interpreting decisions you made with someone else.

Climate-Considered Layouts

Ventilation, shading, and humidity are reviewed before layout is finalised — not added as corrections after the first occupancy. Malaysia's climate is part of the brief, not a footnote.

Clear, Structured Pricing

Each service has a set fee, stated before work begins. There are no variable hourly billing surprises. You know what you're paying for and what it includes.

Written Progress Records

Every site walk produces a written log, shared with the client. Contractor conversations are followed up in email. There is a paper trail for every decision made on site.

Professional Expertise

Foundation of practice

Lirien's principal designer has spent eleven years working in Malaysian residential interiors, including several years within a larger Kuala Lumpur firm before establishing the studio. That background means the studio has encountered most of the problems that come with complex refits — and has developed working methods to address them.

  • Over a decade of residential interior experience in Malaysia
  • Working knowledge of local contractor practices and material sourcing
  • Member, Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID)

Visualisation & Tools

Technical capability

The studio produces 3D views for all full documentation projects. These are working tools, not marketing renders — they're used to resolve spatial questions and material relationships before the build begins, reducing costly changes on site.

  • 3D visualisations included in documentation service
  • Construction drawings produced to a scale contractors can work from
  • Digital material boards shared with clients for review

Client Communication

How we work together

Lirien keeps communication direct and documented. You will always know who is responsible for a decision, because there is only one person on your project. Questions are answered by the designer, not relayed through a project manager who wasn't in the room.

  • Single point of contact throughout the engagement
  • Written confirmation of all decisions and changes
  • Studio hours: Monday–Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday 10am–2pm

Transparent Fees

Pricing and value

Services are priced at a fixed rate, stated before engagement begins. The concept brief is RM 510, full documentation is RM 3,400, and on-site coordination is RM 2,200. There are no variable hourly components and no ambiguity about what is included within each service scope.

  • Fixed fees, no hourly billing
  • Invoice in stages tied to project milestones
  • Scope defined in writing before work begins

Spaces That Hold

Outcomes we aim for

The aim of Lirien's process is an interior that reads as well five years after completion as it does on the day the keys are handed over — and that functions better in the Malaysian climate than interiors designed without that condition in mind.

  • Interiors planned for durability and ease of maintenance
  • Layouts reviewed for ventilation adequacy before finalisation
  • Design intent protected through the build phase

What sets us apart

Distinctive features of the Lirien approach

Services you can use in sequence

Start with the concept brief. If the direction suits your project, proceed to documentation. Add coordination when the build begins. Each service is independent, but they're designed to work together without duplication or rework.

Documentation written for site, not presentation

Lirien's specification sets include the kind of detail — dimension tolerances, finish specifications, joinery notes — that contractors need to build from without guessing. They're made for the builder, not the client portfolio meeting.

Malaysian light and humidity, built into the brief

Every layout is reviewed for how it handles tropical conditions — not just aesthetically, but practically. Materials are selected for how they behave in humidity over years, not just how they photograph in a brochure.

Client data treated as private by default

Floor plans, photographs of your home, and personal information are not used in marketing, shared with third parties, or retained beyond the project without your explicit written agreement. This is stated in our terms from the start.
